30 years, one phone call, and why our NLP Practitioner programme exists

In 1998, I attended a seminar in the UK led by John Grinder and Carmen Bostic St ClairI had been in NLP for a few years by then. I was building the NLP Academy. I had trained under other people. But something was missing.The moment I met John and Carmen, I knew I had found what I was looking for.

We bonded immediately. Within a few years, John and Carmen invited me to join them on their Whispering in the Wind book project. I became their UK training partner. And in 2002, I became John Grinder’s sole business representative, a role I still hold today.

That is over 20 years of working directly with the man who co-created NLP.Together, John, Carmen and I completely redesigned the NLP Certification Courses. We raised the standards to a much higher level. They certified me as an NLP Master Trainer, the only one in the world with that certification from both of them.
I am telling you this not to impress you. I am telling you because it explains why our practitioner programme is possible.

This is a programme that only exists because of 20 years of partnership.

Michael Carroll is the Founder and Course Director of The NLP Academy, established in 1996. As a co–developer of New Code NLP, Michael formalised the training structures of New Code patterning for courses at different levels within the International Trainers and Coaching Academy of NLP (ITCA) which was set up by Michael, John and Carmen to benchmark high standards in the NLP field.

Prior to his NLP career, Michael owned a hugely successful Financial Services Consultancy, where he developed a fascination with psychological business methods. This led to his early studies of NLP and gaining a BSc in Psychology. Today, with 25 years of training and coaching experience, Michael is one of the leading educators in the field who continues to push the boundaries for innovation and high standards.
