FREE VALUE: CALIBRATION

A technique most NLP practitioners get wrong (and how to fix it in 60 seconds)
Before I tell you more about the Practitioner programme, I want to give you something you can use right now. One of the most common mistakes I see, even among experienced NLP practitioners, is how they use calibration.
Most people think calibration is about reading body language with interpretations. That is surface-level pattern matching. It is not calibration.Real calibration, is about detecting CHANGES in a person’s state. Not interpreting static positions.
Here is the distinction:
A person who always crosses their arms is not being defensive. That is their baseline. But a person who uncrosses their arms mid-conversation and then suddenly crosses them again, THAT is information. Something shifted.
The skill is not in reading the position. It is in noticing the transition. Try this today in any conversation:
Instead of labelling what you see (“they look uncomfortable”), notice what CHANGED (“they were leaning forward and then suddenly pulled back”). Ask yourself: what was happening in the conversation at that exact moment?
That is calibration. And it changes everything about how you communicate.
This is the kind of depth we go into during the 13 -day course. Not surface-level NLP. The real thing, taught the way it was designed to be taught.
