Taking Charge of ConfusionIn NLP, there are Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic modalities which form our input channels and our internal representations. The components of the modalities are known as submodalities and are how we encode our internal pictures, sounds and feelings, to create meaning.
For example we have visual submodalities, which are in location to the picture, the size of the picture, the colour, black and white, how bright or dim, associated or disassociated. We have auditory submodalities which include volume, location, tone, pauses, and tempo. We also have kinaesthetic submodalities: locations, shape, temperature, movement, intensity and duration. There are more submodalities in each modality; the ones mentioned in this paragraph are some key ones.
