Who’s driving the engine?
There is a century (or more..) long debate about who is in ‘charge’ on a locomotive engine. Some say it’s the Conductor, others say it’s the Engineer. Those supporting the Conductor argument like to point out that whenever there’s a decision to be made or a question to ask about the operation of the train, people ask the Conductor because they see him/her as the person in ‘charge’.
And although they work as a ‘team’ ie. both share responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the train, the train will not move forward without an onboard Engineer.
End stop.
